Bettina Jensen was born in Hamburg. She studied voice in Berlin with Norma Sharp and Artur Korn, and Lied with Peter Schreier and Wolfram Rieger. She is the winner of various prizes and scholarships including the Studienstiftung des Deutschen Volkes, the Bayreuther Festspiele and Jehudi Menuhin's "live Music Now" organisation, as well as the Jütting-Stiftung in Stendal. Gustav Kuhn asked her to join the Accademia di Monte Gridolfo. Furthermore she won prizes in many national and international competitions including the Hanns Eisler Prize.

During her studies Bettina made her debut at the Berlin Staatsoper as Gorgo in Des Esels Schatten. George Tabori engaged her as Pamina for his famous production of Die Zauberflöte in a circus tent in Berlin. Bettina was engaged by Harry Kupfer for the role of First lady in Die Zauberflöte at the Komische Oper, and subsequently Agathe in Freischütz in the production by Christof Nel, a role that Bettina has made her own and which she has successfully performed in Lucerne, Wiesbaden, Staatsoper Leipzig, and in Essen. From 1999 to 2001 Bettina joined the ensemble of the Lucerne Theatre and between 2002 and 2007 she sang major roles such as Marie in Bartered Bride, Hanna Glawari in Homoki´s Die lustige Witwe, Donna Anna in Konwitschny´s Don Giovanni, Kurfürstin in Vogelhändler, Micaela in Carmen, Countess in Le nozze di Figaro, Fiordiligi in Cosi fan tutte and Rosalinde in Die Fledermaus and Lisa in Land des Lächelns at the Komische Oper, Berlin. In 2008 she sang Contessa in Le nozze di Figaro, Ponte de Lima Festival in Portugal, followed by Donna Anna/Don Giovanni and Madame Lidoine/Les dialogues des Carmélites at the Staatstheater Kassel.

Guest engagements have taken Bettina to the Staatstheater Wiesbaden for Freischütz (Agathe) and to the Aalto Theater Essen/Freischütz (Agathe), to the Landestheater Linz/Freischütz (Agathe) and Così fan tutte (Fiordiligi), Kiel/Freischütz (Agathe), Basel/Freischütz (Agathe), and to the Staatsoper Leipzig/Freischütz (Agathe), Bremen/Don Giovanni (Donna Anna), Erfurt Don Giovanni and Lustige Witwe, to Basel with Land des Lächelns (Lisa), the Hannover Opera (Lustige Witwe) and to the Deutsche Oper Berlin/Zauberflöte (1. Dame), and to the Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona/Freischütz (Agathe).

Bettina Jensen is also a regular singer on the international concert platform, and combines a wide Lieder Repertoire as well as a Concert Repetoire that encompasses music from the Bach Passions through Brahms´s Requiem to Hanns Eisler.
